How to Bird This Site
The official hawk-watching station on the park’s central lawns is staffed daily by volunteers from late August through November. There’s almost always a crowd of birders on weekends at this time; during the peak season, weekdays can be busy as well. At inland sites such as Quaker Ridge in Greenwich, the majority of raptors are Broad-winged Hawks and other buteos. At Lighthouse Point, the bread-and-butter birds of prey are the accipiters, especially Sharp-shinned Hawks, along with falcons, harriers, and Osprey.
